China now makes up 20% of Kalypso’s digital PC sales

Kalypso Media has reported significant growth in its Asian and Russian operations, with China now forming 20 per cent of the publisher’s overall digital PC sales. That’s an increase of 19 per cent year-on-year.

The publisher has also seen promising pre-sale figures for several of its upcoming titles in China as well, including strategy titles Sudden Strike 4, Railway Empire, Dungeons 3 and Tropico 6.

Simon Hellwig, founder and global managing director of Kalypso Media, commented:The expansion of our PR, community and marketing activities in Asia and Russia has already proved successful in a relatively short amount of time, with growth rates of over 20% painting a clear image of the sales opportunities that these countries make possible for valued partners such as Headup Games and Daedalic Entertainment, whose titles we partly have in co-publishing or distribution.

My special thanks go to our partner WhisperGames, who is doing an excellent job and is very well positioned in the Chinese market. Therefore, we will continue to expand our collaboration and provide easier access and more visibility in the market, especially in the areas of localization, marketing, PR and community management."

Max Yan, COO of WhisperGames, added:We are extremely pleased that Kalypso Media has attached such importance to the Chinese market. Through reliable local consulting services, we are proud to be able to help facilitate a connection between Kalypso’s exciting range of titles and China’s passionate gaming fanbase.”
