Criterion’s vehicle game put on hold for Star Wars

In 2014 Criterion revealed that it was working on an extreme sports vehicle title with more than a hint of Burnout about it. Now it's not clear whether we'll ever see that game.

EA has told GameSpot that folk should forget about any previous projects mentioned by the UK studio.

"While they've moved on from the previous project they've spoken about and aren't pursuing it, they are continuing to build new ideas and experiment with new IP for EA, in addition to continuing to collaborate with other EA studios," an EA rep said.

At E3 it was confirmed that Criterion is helping out with EA's many Star Wars projects, having already chipped in with Star Wars Battlefront.

Yesterday MCV published a Burnout retrospective in which we chat to Fiona Sperry, who now heads up a team of ex-Criterion devs working at Three Fields. That studio recently released its first title, Dangerous Golf.
