Cuphead has been delayed until mid 2017

Cuphead, the upcoming platformer that looks like a 1930’s cartoon, has been delayed into 2017, after originally being set for a 2016 launch.

The title will now appear on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in mid 2017.

Hey everyone, we wanted to finish our game 80 years after 1936 but it will now be 81,” said the team in theannouncement post. Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017.

We are constantly humbled by your continued support. Love you all and can’t wait to get this to you. Without further ado, we will get back to work!”

Delaying the game to next year seems like a smart move, especially if launching in 2016 would mean that content or features were missing. As Shigeru Miyamoto once said, A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.” It also means that Cuphead will not get lost in the mountain of upcoming triple A releases.
