Gears of War Ultimate Edition out now on PC

Having been without a release date since its announcement, the PC version of Gears of War Ultimate Edition is available right now.

Microsoft has chosen to make the game both a Windows Store and Windows 10 exclusive, meaning Steam-only buyers and those yet to upgrade to the company's latest OS are out of luck. The game costs 22.79.

Also confirmed are earlier rumours of Forza making its way to PC, with Forza Motorsport 6: Apex confirmed for the spring. The game is described as a curated, standalone experience for Windows 10” complete with 4K visuals, Drivatar support and all the other DirectX 12 trappings.

At Xbox we believe gamers should be able to play the games they want, with the people they want, on the devices they want,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer said. Making more of our popular games available for gamers to play on either Xbox One or Windows 10, each powered by Xbox Live, is another important step towards this vision. We are committed to delivering amazing gaming experiences for gamers who play on consoles, PCs or both.”

These comments only begin to touch upon the wider changes revealed by the exec earlier today. Microsoft seems intent on further blurring the line between Xbox and PC, even going as far as to suggest that upgradable console hardware could be in the offing in the future.
