Just a few weeks after launch Persona 5 is already Atlus’ best selling game in Japan

Persona 5 has sold 437,929 copies in Japan, making it Atlus’ best selling game in the country.

Having launched on September 15th Persona 5 has already sold more than 400,000 units across both PS4 and PS3 according to the Media Create sales numbers, which were helpfully translated by Persona Central.Earlier this month Atlus announced that they had shipped more than 550,000 copies of the game to retailers in Japan and that Persona 5 managed to sell 337,767 copies in its first week on sale.

This makes it the highest selling Atlus game of all time in the region, beating the likes of Persona 4 Golden and the original Persona, which previously held the record.

It is also worth noting that these numbers do not include digital sales, so chances are the actual total sales are much closer to the 500,000 mark.

Atlus has been around for almost 30 years, publishing hundreds of games over that time. Persona has always been the company’s stand out series partly due to its massive success in the west over recent years.

Persona 5 is currently set to release in the west on February 14th 2017.
