More than 20 million people have registered accounts for Blizzard's shooter Overwatch.
Considering Overwatch only launched in May that is an impressive amount of players. It is however important to note that this doesn't necessarily mean that Overwatch has sold over 20 million copies. People can create accounts if playing in an internet cafe, or some may have multiple accounts.
Back in August Blizzard announced that Overwatch had hit the 15 million players mark, while seven million played the game during its launch week alone.
The news comes alongside the announcement of the new Halloween event in Overwatch. The Overwatch Halloween Terror event replaces all loot boxes with special themed boxes that contain new cosmetics, some of which will be available to buy with credits in the hero gallery.
The event also includes the first ever PvE game mode in the form of Junkenstein's Revenge, a four player co-op horde mode. Players much pick between Ana, Hanzo, McCree or Soldier: 76 and defeat multiple waves of enemies. The backstory for the new mode is available in this neat little comic.
Overwatch's Halloween Terror event is now live on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and presumably runs until after Halloween.
