PES 2016 gets free Euro 2016 content as second roster patch is delayed

Konami has revealed exactly what it's going to do with the Euro 2016 licence – give away the content for free.

PES 2016 caused a fuss at launch when it shipped without updated squad rosters that reflected the summer transfer activity. Konami's admission that this would take a month to fix was met with bemusement. The anger intensified when the patch finally arrived only for players to discover it was incomplete.

A second patch, Konami said, would not arrive until the end of November. Now the company has admitted that it actually won't be made available until December.

It has been a difficult few months for the fans in how we have been delivering content in our recent Data Packs, with some items missing that our consumers expected,” Konami's football and alliances director Erik Bladinieres said.

The PES Production team appreciate their fans' support and want to reward their support and bring back confidence in the Data Pack releases. With this announcement, we hope we can regain their trust. The next Data Pack is scheduled for early December, including the Maracana stadium, more faces, new national team kits, club teams and the player roster which was confirmed on October 19th.

We strive to keep delivering quality content to our fans, for free. The content of the UEFA Euro 2016 content has yet to be defined, but all content delivered by Data Pack featuring Euro for next year's prestigious tournament will be free to all existing users.”

Konami announced its capture of the Euro 2016 license in August. We're yet to discover exactly what content it will offer to tie-in with the tournament.
