PES 2017 adds Liverpool FC license to its roster

Konami has nailed down another top-level partnership, this time with one of the Premier League’s big guns.

PES 2017 has signed Liverpool as an ‘Official Partner’. The deal grants it the rights to use the team’s logo and kit, faithfully recreate players and add Anfield as a playing venue. You’ll Never Walk Alone will also be sung by spectators ahead of kick off.

This seems a step down from the ‘Premium Partner’ deal recently agreed with Barcelona, which saw PES grab exclusive game rights to the Nou Camp stadium.

"Konami is committed to working with the very best in modern football, and Liverpool FC is the perfect partner,” the publisher’s senior director of brand and business development Jonas Lygaard said.

With its rich history, huge fan base and dynamic style of play implemented by manager Jrgen Klopp, we look forward to working together to ensure that this fantastic club is perfectly reproduced in PES 2017 and all other future PES titles across home and mobile formats. We will get unrivalled access to work with Liverpool FC to ensure their players are brought to life in our products, and will also work together in future promotional partnerships as well.”

The LFC bells and whistles will be added to the game via a post-launch update. Classic Liverpool players such as Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen will also be made available in the MyClub mode.

PES 2017 will be released on September 15th.
