PewDiePie is launching his own video network

Disney’s Maker Studios has given Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg the financial backing to launch his own online video network.

Variety reports that it’s called Revelmode. What it is remains unclear, although joining PewDiePie will be a host of other YouTube talent including Cinnamon Toast Ken, Cutiepiemarzia, Dodger, Emmablackery, JackSepticEye, Jelly, KwebbelKop and Markiplier.

PewDiePie and the Revelmode talent squad wield their passion for gaming and pop culture to bring you original shows, games, charitable programs, community events, merchandise and more,” the blurb explains.

We’re thrilled to be doubling down with Felix,” Maker Studios’ executive VP Courtney Holt added. He is an amazing talent, a great partner and the pulse of millennial pop culture. We firmly believe in his vision for Revelmode and his chosen creators — we can’t wait to see the possibilities ahead.”

What the move means for Kjellberg’s relationship with YouTube remains to be seen. He still reigns as the king of the network, and was the headline face of its new subscription service YouTube Red. He has, however, previously hinted at aspiring toward branching out and forming his own network that is better equipped to help video makers.

I started as a gaming and digital-content fan long before making this a profession,” PewDiePie himself added. The idea of Revelmode was built from my own experiences and will aim to bring together an Avengers-like talent squad to work and grow a business together.”
