Remedy, the Finnish studio behind Max Payne, Alan Wake and Quantum Break, is currently working on two projects, but neither of them are Alan Wake titles.

As reported by Polygon, the studio says that one of these titles is a brand new triple-A IP. Furthermore, it is not being published by Microsoft unlike Alan Wake and Quantum Break.

The second project is also triple-A, but only at the very early concept stages.

"We finally have two teams, which has been a long-time goal for Remedy and we definitely want to make more games," said Remedy's business director Johannes Paloheimo.

"We don't want to take five years to ship a game. It's been a long process, trying to transition into a two team studio, but now we can make more games faster and diversify both financially and creatively."

While comms boss Thomas Puha declined to tell Polygon whether its second project was another entry in one of Remedy's existing franchise, he said that it is definitely not a new Alan Wake game. However, Alan Wake could live on in other formats – including comics, books, movies and TV.

We're not currently working on an Alan Wake game," Puha said. "We talked with you about Alan Wake almost a year ago and our stance hasn't changed. If the right opportunity came along we would like to do more. That doesn't mean there isn't one in the future. We just don't want to tease people and give them the wrong impression.

"We are actively exploring other mediums where we could tell Alan Wake stories."
