Rumours that Activision may be preparing to ditch the Skylanders series have intensified with news that developer Vicarious Visions is now working on Destiny.

A tweet from Bungie carried the message: Vicarious Visions is excited to announce that we are partnering with Bungie to further expand the award-winning Destiny universe.”

This in itself may not mean a huge amount. Large projects are now very commonly contributed to by an ever-growing number of studios. Vicarious Visions has of course worked on many other projects before and is also involved with the upcoming PS4 Crash Bandicoot reboot.

However, recently a rumour began to circulate that Activision was ready to drop Skylanders thanks to lower than expected sales of its most release, Imaginators. Last year's SuperChargers fell short of targets, too. And it wouldn't be the first once successful victim to fall foul of the competitive toys-to-life sector, following this year's demise of Disney Infinity.

Take a look at Vicarious Visions' Facebook, though, which is now very ‘Destiny' heavy.

Still, with a Netflix series on the horizon, there maybe hope for the Skylanders franchise yet, even if it goes on to live in another form.
