Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima unveiled at Sony’s Paris Games Week conference

Sony kicked off Paris Games Week earlier today with its press conference.

Among other announcements, the platform holder unveiled a new IP from Infamous and Sly Cooper developer Sucker Punch.

Entitled Ghost of Tsushima, the open-world samurai title, set in medieval Japan, kicked off Sony’s conference and will be a PS4 exclusive. The title’s release date has not been revealed and the publisher hasn’t unveiled much more details on the title.

“The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan — until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population,” the official blurb from Sony read. ”As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But, honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting — the way of the Ghost — as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.”

Ghost of Tsushima will be Sucker Punch’s fist title outside of the Infamous franchise since 2005’s Sly 3. The studio’s latest game was digital-only Infamous: First Light, released in 2014.
