System 3’s Constructor headed for Nintendo Switch

UK developer System 3 has announced it’s bringing its iconic city builder title Constructor to the Nintendo Switch. The launch will mark the 20th anniversary of the title, which originally launched on PC in 1997.

Constructor will arrive on Switch on March 3rd, making it one of the few UK developed games in Nintendo’s opening line-up. The game is also launching on PS4, Xbox One and Steam a few days earlier on February 28th.

Of course, the Switch version brings the added advantage of being able to play the game on the move, giving players ample opportunity to carry on building, destroying and sabotaging from wherever they see fit – even on your very own porcelain throne. Just remember to flush, System 3 reminds us.

The Switch version of Constructor will also add wireless multiplayer to the mix. While the Switch can support up to eight consoles for local wireless multiplayer, Constructor will allow just four players to go head to head as they try and complete the game’s numerous multiplayer challenges.

The drive and ambition to bring products to the world’s most dynamic gaming systems has stood System 3 in good stead over its 35-year existence,” CEO of System 3 Mark Cale said in a statement.

The Nintendo Switch is the latest example of hardware allowing us to bring our unique vision to the market. You’ll now be able to build and run your construction empire anywhere you like – you’ll never stop building!”

System 3 originally announced an HD remake of Constructor back in 2015. The game was set to launch in January 2016, but was then delayed four times until it eventually settled on a date of January 31st this year. Now the game will launch a month later on February 28th, and March 3rd for Switch.
