Take-Two shuts 2K China studio

2K parent company Take Two has announced it is closing its Shanghai studio.

The company confirmed the above to GamesIndustry.biz, who reports that 2K China – the studio in charge of development on China-exclusive MMO Borderlands Online – has been closed. This office was home to roughly 150 members of staff.

That online title has been axed, too.

"We are excited about the opportunities to expand our business in Asia, and we remain committed to delivering triple-A offerings for that region. At this time, we can confirm that we are closing 2K China," a Take-Two spokesperson said.

"We determined that the additional time required to finish current projects at the studio, particularly Borderlands Online, would not yield a favourable return on investment."
