Warner Bros takes over as Rocket League distributor

The physical version of Rocket League will now be distributed by Warner Bros.

The new worldwide agreement will see a new physical version of the PS4, Xbox One and PC game arriving at some point in the future.

"Rocket League has such wide appeal across all audiences, it's no wonder the game is such a huge success," Warner Interactive’s American senior VP of sales Kevin Kebodeaux said. "We're very excited to be working with Psyonix to bring the game to retailers across the globe."

Psyonix’s VP of publishing Jeremy Dunham added: "Warner Bros. has already proven to be a great partner. We first collaborated on Batman v Superman DLC for Rocket League in early 2016 and we have continued to be impressed with the team's knowledge, professionalism, reach and enthusiasm for video games. They are the ideal partner to help us push Rocket League to another level at retail."

Psyonix and 505 announced the termination of their partnership in July.

“We appreciate all of the hard work that 505 Games has shown throughout our partnership, which sold more than 1 million physical copies of Rocket League,” Dunham said at the time. “We wish 505 Games the best of luck in their future endeavours.”

505 CEO Raphael Galante added: “We have been remunerated by the Rocket League contract. Through the partnership we gained massive experience and learned many good lessons, that we have extensively replicated to different products by leveraging our exemplary international retail sales structure that few other videogame publishers have.

“From a financial standpoint, we earned more than 23m Euros in revenue in the first nine months of the current fiscal year and Rocket League has been present in all the major international markets and retailers since the retail launch occurred in June of last year. We hope Rocket League will continue to be successful and increase its fan base and we thank Psyonix for this great opportunity.”
