‘Xbox neXt’ hardware appears on designer profile

What appears to be a mention of a new Xbox console has appeared on a designer’s profile.

As reported by Videogamer, a designer who has been at Microsoft since 2006, and working on Xbox since 2008, mentions Xbox One, Xbox SmartGlass, Xbox 360 and something called Xbox neXt in their work history.

Of course, no-one expects any possible new Xbox to be called Xbox neXt, but the news adds credence to the ongoing rumours that Microsoft is preparing to unleash a new console in the very near future, possibly at E3.

The big question is whether Microsoft will follow what appears to be Sony’s lead and unveil an iterative upgrade to the Xbox One.

This is what has been rumoured for some time, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently said he wouldn’t be keen on a partial upgrade and would much prefer substantial change”. Most read this as a dismissal of the Xbox 1.5, but could it instead point to a full-on Xbox One successor announcement in June?
