Dark Souls board game hits Kickstarter goal in three minutes, is approaching £500,000

Steamforged’s table top game based on the popular Dark Souls series met it 50,000 funding goal in just three minutes.

At the time of writing, Dark Souls: The Board Game has raised 461,630 – almost ten times its initial goal – and has been backed by 5,763 people. What’s more – it has 26 more days on Kickstarter.

The board game maker has also provided more details about the upcoming release – set for launch in April 2017.

The firm has revealed that the Dancer of the Boreal Valley from Dark Souls 3 will be appearing in the game, as will mini bosses including the Titanite Demon, Frost Knight, Winged Knight, Garcoyle and Invader (which MCV hopes is painted red when the game comes out).

Steamforged has also rolled out a number of stretch goals, including new encounter cards. The company is targeting physical stores, too, saying it ‘know the challenges retail phases with Kickstarter projects’. The firm says it is determined to support retail at every level, and has opened a Retailer Pledge level. This grants stores six copies of the core game.

And Steamforged is opening several ‘retailer bonus unlocks’ – add ons that are only available at physical retail, and not purchasable in the Kickstarter push. So far, these include Dark Souls II’s The Last Giant and Manus, Father of the Abyss from Dark Souls’ Artorias of the Abyss DLC.

Speaking of which, where are Artorias and Sif, Steamforged?
