Fnatic begins crowdfunding new line of team-branded hardware

Fnatic, one of Europe’s largest multi-game eSports organisations, is turning to Indiegogo to crowdfund a new line of team-branded peripherals.

The Swedish team, which has top-flight teams in CS:GO, League of Legends and Dota 2, previously had a line of headphones, mice and mouse mats under the SteelSeries line of hardware.

Fnatic Gear, as the brand is named, requires $133,700 in the next 30 days to go into production, and offers peripherals on their own or in packs as part of the perks.

The new line, built by Fnatic in-house after aqcuiring manufacturer Func, Inc, includes a mouse, keyboard, and hard and soft-cloth mouse mats, all named appropriately after terms used in CS:GO, and all focused on a minimal design philosophy.

“After 11 years of blood, sweat, and broken gear, we know what makes great eSports hardware,” the campaigns description reads. “No flashy green lights will get you a Pentakill. No fan on a mouse will help you hit a headshot. ESports gear is about simplicity, comfort, and reliability.”

Buying all three together in the Pro Pack costs $167 (£109) and includes the FLICK mouse, RUSH keyboard and your choice of FOCUS (soft cloth) or BOOST (hard) mouse mats.

Components used in the peripherals are designed to provide the responsiveness pro players require from their inputs, including a Pixart3310 optical sensor for higher DPI mouse settings, and Cherry MX mechanical keys.

French player Florian “Drunkkz3” Le Bihan, part of Fnatic’s newly acquired Overwatch professional team, said: “As professional players, we’re the guys who are always hunting for the best gear. We want minimal designs with the best performance. Fnatic Gear is our chance to create our own eSports grade products.”
