PUBG sells 1m in just 48 hours on Xbox One

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds sold more than 1m copies in its first 48 hours on the Xbox One.

The news comes from Xbox Wire, who announced the figures on Friday, ahead of PUBG's first weekend on sale. Bluehole's battle royale survive-em-up launched into Microsoft's Xbox Game Preview program on December 12. At least six copies were sold every second during the game's first 48 hours.

Response to the game's release has been lukewarm among gaming press, however Microsoft are putting it front and centre for their Christmas marketing campaign, giving PUBG to all new owners of the Xbox One X console between December 17-31 for free in select regions around the world.

The game's launch, despite its Xbox Game Preview status, has been marred by complaints about framerate issues, pop-in and other technical problems. After PUBG's 1.0 launch on the PC on December 20th, Bluehole, and subsidiary PUBG Corp, will be turning their attention to the tweaks and changes PUBG will need to launch smoothly on Microsoft's console.

PUBG is selling for £24.99 in the UK, with comparative prices in other regions. With a chunk of change that big, Bluehole and Microsoft are probably feeling like they've won a chicken dinner of their own.
