Xbox One priced Rs 39,990 in India, launches 23rd September

The Xbox One will launch in India on 23rd September and will be priced Rs 39,990; the same as the PlayStation 4.

The announcement was made last night, following Microsoft’s Xbox E3 media briefing.

The Rs 39,990 price is for the console-only SKU of the Xbox One. The Xbox One and Kinect bundle, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 45,990.

That price difference values the Kinect at just Rs 6,000, when by contrast, the price difference between the standalone Xbox 360 250 GB console and the Xbox 360 250 GB with Kinect is Rs 10,000.

Microsoft is yet to talk about all the entertainment features and services that will be coming to Xbox One, as well as whether Kinect voice support will be available in India. However, the latter may no longer be a pressing matter now that Kinect is an optional peripheral.

There’s also no word yet on the launch line-up of games, which peripherals will be available at launch, or if the Kinect sensor will be sold separately.

The Xbox One India launch will coincide with the release of some of the most anticipated games of the year. FIFA 15 will release just days after the console’s launch on 26th September, with Xbox One exclusive open-world racer Forza Horizon 2 to follow on the 30th.

The following month will witness a deluge of high profile releases, including exclusive new IP Sunset Overdrive, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Battlefield: Hardline, Evolve, WWE 2K15, Dragon Age: Inquisition, andMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
