Industry raises record funding, which will be split between five chosen charities

Voting for 2014 GamesAid partner charities opens

From today, GamesAid members can vote on which charities they want to benefit from this year’s fundraising.

The industry charity will split the money raised by various companies and members of the games industry equally between five chosen organisation.

The charities in the running this year include Accuro, Action For Kids, Jigsaw4U, Lifelites, MAPS, Myasthenia Gravis Association, Safe At Last, Special Effect and The Honeypot Children’s Charity.

Voting opens at midday today and closes at 12pm on Tuesday, September 9th. That’s exactly one week to vote, people.

Last year, GamesAid friends and supporters within the industry raised £260,000, which was split between last year’s partner charities to give each one £52,000.

In 2014, GamesAid reports that industry members have "raised a record amount", more than in any other year since the charity began in 2007, although a figure has yet to be announced.
