Multiplay revealed as host for Ready At Dawn’s Oculus exclusive Echo Arena

UK events and games service provider Multiplay has been unveiled as the host for Ready At Dawn’s new VR multiplayer title, Echo Arena. Multiplay previously hosted the servers for Ready At Dawn’s Deformers, as well as Tripwire Interactive’s Killing Floor 2 (which is now coming to Xbox One this August), and Respawn’s Titanfall 2.

As with Deformers, Multiplay will be utilising its unique Clanforge hybrid scaling proposition to manage daily user fluctuations. Its combination of bare metal servers and multiple cloud providers will also add extra coverage around the world and near unlimited scaling, ensuring the player’s experience of Echo Arena is as smooth as possible.

Echo Arena was recently crowned the best VR game at E3 by the Game Critics Awards, and sees players do battle in zero-gravity. It’s also been included in Intel, ESL and Oculus’ VR Challenger League, and is currently available for free on a limited basis to all Oculus Rift and Touch owners.

David Neubelt, multiplayer lead at Ready At Dawn Studios said:Multiplay’s Hybrid Hosting service provides us with a tremendous combination of reliability and scalability at an affordable cost.

The multiplayer hosting functionality behind Echo Arena is a new challenge for us, but Multiplay’s technology and hosting platform removed much of the guesswork and pain of implementation that we might have otherwise faced. Most importantly, Multiplay’s solution consistently provides a low latency experience for our players to enjoy the game to its fullest.”

Paul Manuel, digital director at Multiplay added:Echo Arena is an enormously exciting game, with its esports and social gaming potential already creating a huge level of buzz in the industry and player community.

Supporting Echo Arena has been a passion project for the Multiplay team, allowing us to partner with Ready At Dawn to apply our auto-scaling system on a VR title for the first time. Like all of the games we support, Multiplay will be providing Bare-Metal servers along with the ability toautomaticallyburst into the cloud to ensure that player demand is always met. Games are precious things that have taken enormous amounts of creative energy to make. Through beta testing, commercial launch and beyond, Multiplay’s role is to ensure that Echo Arena stays online 24/7 and to provide the very best lag free player experience possible."
