For some, it’s been very easy to be cynical about PlayStation 3. A while ago the price was too high, the format lacked key games, and it just didn’t have much impetus at retail. For the rest, there has been a polite tolerance. Retailers accepted the price was high, but that didn’t stop them urging it to fall.

Are DS pirates losing the war?

In July last year MCV revealed that the popularity of R4 cards, and similar piracy devices, were severely impacting sales of
DS games. In that story we highlighted three UK retailers where these devices were freely available – Amazon, eBay and Simplygames.com. As these stores provided a direct channel for these harmful catridges, Nintendo could only tell us that they were ‘monitoring the situation’.
