Studio to expand teams and release its own HTML5 dev tools

HTML5 developer Wozlla raises $2m

Beijing-based HTML5 developer Wozlla has raised $2m in its first funding round.

The studio aims to use the money to expand its teams and continue developing new mobile games. As well as China, the company recently opened an office in Mexico.

Wozlla also plans to continue development of its own HTML5 tools and release them commercially before the end of the year.

Prior to the funding round, Wozlla signed a partnership deal with Tencent for Summoner of Time: Hero Reborn to get the game featured on China’s popular QQ Space platform, which is said to have more than 815 million monthly active users.

“HTML5 will lead the way in games development in the future,” said Wozlla founder and CEO Zi Bin Cheah.

“China is at the forefront of HTML5 games development technology, and Wozlla is already ahead of the curve in the industry as the Best HTML5 Game in China award we just received from Tencent shows.”
