The amount of consumers using entertainment apps on Xbox Live globally increased by 50 per cent from November to December.
On average, over 60 per cent US Xbox Live Gold members accessed these apps for one hour each day. Entertainment apps include YouTube, Blinkbox, Netflix and MSN. Several went live in December last year following the launch of the new Xbox 360 dashboard.
Microsoft also said the overall hours users spent watching videos on Xbox 360’s online network rose by 140 per cent year-on-year.
The figures were revealed on the blog of Xbox Live’s director of programming Larry Hryb.
We are committed to enhancing and expanding our global entertainment offerings on Xbox LIVE in 2012,” he said.
You can expect to see more of the world’s leading entertainment providers coming to Xbox and a continued rollout of additional entertainment apps.”
Upcoming Xbox Live entertainment apps include several from News Corporation, which will allow users to watch shows like Glee and Family Guy.
