Activision predicts Prestige Edition hit

Publisher Activision believes it has a big hit on its hands with the Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The SKU will retail exclusively at HMV, GAME and Gamestation when it arrives on November 9th.

The collector’s box set for Xbox 360 and PS3 features an RC-XD Surveillance Vehicle complete with a remote camera that transmits a colour TFT image and audio to the remote handset, over a range of 200 feet. It will retail at 129.99 and is open for pre-orders now.

Activision’s UK MD Andrew Brown told MCV: The inclusion of the RC-XD video camera promises to make this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition a truly exciting offering, adding a new angle to the Black Ops experience.

I’m sure that this will be a real hit with fans of the Call of Duty franchise.”

The bundle also includes all the contents of the Hardened Edition – a custom Black Ops limited edition medal, exclusive avatar outfit and four extra in-game co-op maps as well as the game itself.

As the latest Call of Duty title following last November’s immensely popular Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops looks set to be a Q4 sales success.

HMV’s head of games Tim Ellis says it will be the retailer’s biggest release of the year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is a an absolutely huge event for us and without doubt the defining game of 2010.

We’ve been gearing up for what will surely prove to be our biggest title of the year both online and in-store.”

GAME’s UK MD Martyn Gibbs added: The Call of Duty phenomenon marches on and we know that fans will want to get their hands on this incredible edition.”

Black Ops hits stores on November 9th for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PC and DS.
