Angry Birds tops 250m downloads

The phenomenon that is Angry Birds has now been downloaded 250 million times across all mobile platforms.

This figure was confirmed to TechCrunch by Rovio founder Peter Vestebacka and product manager Ramine Darabiha, who offered a few teasers about what the mobile developer is working on next.

In terms of everyone’s favourite feathered pig-bombers, the most interesting news is Angry Birds Magic. This location-based platform was first announced in April, and is designed to be integrated into all Angry Birds titles, allowing users to unlock new levels depending on where they are.

Magic Places will work on any phone,” said Darabiha. So you can think of Magic as a way to deliver new things via interactions in the physical world.”

The team is also working on a cookbook focused on egg recipes and developing a new game called Wine and Dine.
