The stock in computing behemoth Apple has exceeded $500 per share for the very first time.
As of this morning the company is trading at $509.46, resulting in a market cap of $475bn.
The rate of growth has been astronomical, by any standards. Apple stock was trading at around $300 in June and jumped to $400 by the following month.
Fluctuations followed for the rest of the year, though its stock value has climbed some 40 per cent in under two months.
Apple is now nearly 20 per cent more valuable than its closest competitor, energy giant Exxon Mobil. It’s also worth more than Microsoft and Google combined.
