Battlefield 3 in production for three years

Battlefield 3 has been in production for three years, according to ex-DICE Canada’s studio manager Fredrik Liliegren.

He told Gaming Union: I know what DICE were talking about on the PC side for Battlefield 3, and they haven’t announced any of that yet, after three years.”

Liliegren has previously worked on the Battlefield series. He left DICE in 2006 and setup Antic Entertainment in 2008, which it says focuses on developing casual games for the hardcore player”.

Liliegren is also confident that the PC version will be able to compete with Infinity Ward’s hugely successful Modern Warfare 2.

I think it’s going to absolutely blow everyone away. It’s not Modern Warfare 2 PC, and that’s why it’s going to blow people away."

Battlefield 3 has yet to be officially confirmed, but EA executive John Pleasants reportedly mentioned the game last year and said it’s a product that is looking very good". It’s likely to go on sale during the next few years.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 5th 2010.
