Blizzard aims to restore Starcraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II for modern PCs

Blizzard is seeking a senior software engineer to bring some of its classic games up to proper working order for modern computers.

Polygonreports on the listing, which name drops Starcraft, Diablo II, and Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. All three are currently supported on Battle.net, but Blizzard is looking to restore them to glory” by ensuring they work on newer operating systems.

The position’s responsibilities include "[making] gameplay first again on modern operating systems [and owning] implementation and curation of features new and old,” as well as addressing outstanding bug and crash reports and combating hacking attempts.

"Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation," the job description reads. "We’re restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done."

No mention yet of the original Warcraft: Orcs & Humans or Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness, but one can only hope.
