BP gives up on video games

One of the more unusual video games retailers has abandoned the sector.

Petrol stations run by BP had stocked a limited number of games in recent years, namely big blockbusters like Call of Duty, alongside driving titles such as Codemasters’ F1 series.

Last year the fuelling giant even suggested it could become a viable alternative to High Street retailers, should stores continue to close.

But the dream is over. BP has told MCV that while it will continue to stock music and DVD releases, it will no longer be selling upcoming video games.

Perhaps after spending 80 to fill up a tank of petrol, a 40 video game wasn’t quite the impulse purchase BP customers were expecting.
