Bungie co-founder Seropian leaves Disney as Interactive losses grow

Disney’s senior vice president and general manager of core games Alex Seropian has left the company after a year in charge of its Interactive division.

Gamasutra reports that Seropian, who was a co-founder of Bungie, is a victim of Disney’s increasing distancing from the core games market.

Former Blizzard executive Bill Roper will now take charge of Disney Interactive.

Seropian joined Dinsey in 2009 after its acquisition of Wideload Games – a studio which he was also con-founder of. In January 2011 he took charge of the Interactive division and tasked with guiding it back to profitability.

However, throughout that period the company has distanced itself from the core games sector and turned its attentions to the casual and social games markets.

The news comes as Disney interactive reports increased losses of $28m for the quarter ending December 31st 2011. In the same period last year its losses were only $15m. Revenue for the period fell from $349m to $279m.
