Bungie: We need to prove ourselves with Destiny

It may be behind one of the biggest game franchises of all time, but Bungie insists it still needs to prove itself.

At E3 next week the Halo developer is demoing its new FPS, Destiny, live at the PlayStation press conference.

And the studio’s senior writer Eric Osborne says that Bungie is desperate to show it is no one-hit wonder.

We’ve come a long way,” he told MCV. When Bungie shipped the first Halo for the first Xbox there were less than 50 people working at the studio. Although most of the original team is still here today we’ve also been able to incorporate a remarkable amount of key talent into the fold.

And this team has enthusiastically embraced the challenge of taking a genre we know and love and to turn it on its head again.

With Halo we earned our studio’s independence back,” he said. But with Destiny we want to prove to ourselves that it wasn’t just lightning in a bottle.”
