Call of Duty, GTA and FIFA retain UK retail top spots in first week of 2015

Three of 2014’s biggest games have held their UK retail podium positions as we kick off the New Year.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare kept its place as the UK’s biggest-selling game for last week, despite sales more than halving.

This means Activision’s shooter has now achieved six weeks at number one – besting predecessor Call of Duty: Ghosts’ record by a week.

Rockstar’s PS4 and Xbox One relaunch of Grand Theft Auto V has helped keep the open-world crime title at number two, with sales similarly falling by almost half after the rush of Boxing Day sales week.

FIFA 15 fills out the Top Three, sales again dropping by more than half.

Two of the latest efforts from Ubisoft – Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed Unity – swapped positions, the former taking fourth position and the latter one space lower. Meanwhile, fellow Ubisoft property The Crew sticks in sixth place.

A mere 3,000 units separate Destiny, in seventh place, from the Xbox edition of Minecraft, at number 10. WWE 2K15 and DriveClub plug the gap, at eight and nine respectively.

Nintendo’s release of Wii U exclusive Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker debuts at number 16th.
