Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare claims Christmas No.1 in UK Top 40

Activision’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has claimed the Christmas No.1 spot this year, holding onto its position at the top of the UK Top 40 for the second week running. This makes it the seventh Call of Duty title to hold this position over Christmas.

After a decline in sales since Black Friday, Call of Duty’s unit sales rose by 48 per cent week-on-week, giving it a comfortable lead over this week’s No.2 entry, FIFA 17. By comparison, sales for FIFA 17 rose by just 5 per cent week-on-week.

Pre-Christmas sales saw a number of games return to the top ten this week, with Watch Dogs 2 climbing two places to No.4 after a 73 per cent rise in sales week-on-week.

Grand Theft Auto V also shot back into the charts this week, rising to No.5 up from No.11 after an increase of 85 per cent week-on-week. Dishonored 2 blinked back into the top ten as well, sneaking up to No.8 after last week’s place at No.17. Sales were up 69 per cent week-on-week.

The most surprising climb in the top ten this week, however, was Mafia III, whose sales rose 130 per cent week-on-week to take it to the No.10 spot after last week’s position at No.26.

Here’s the Top 10 for the week ending December 17th in full:

  1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (Activision)
  2. FIFA 17 (EA)
