Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Destined to once again break all the pre-order and sales records, the latest Call of Duty title is one that many consumers have waited for religiously since Black Ops.

That title became the best selling game of all time in the UK industry’s history. And whilst the Modern Warfare 3 title alone is enough to get customers queing around the block at store openings across the UK, it also arrives armed with a range of enhancements and additions.

Picking up where MW2 left off, MW3 thrusts players into a global crisis. The US continues to battle against Russia which is responsible for in-game acts of terror in Europe.

London calling

Anyone who has experienced the delights of the Tube can enjoy returning to the Underground in different circumstances, as London becomes a war zone in MW3. After terrorists take control of a train, it’s up to players to mind the gap and give chase in trucks, shooting enemies and no doubt causing minor delays.

A new co-op Survival mode sees players stranded with a friend as they attempt to hold off wave after wave of increasingly powerful enemies, earning XP as they do so. Gamers can earn money and spend it on weapons, armour, ammo and even backup to help them survive.

MW3 also offers new multiplayer strike packages that sort kill streaks into Assault, Support and Specialist categories, each with differing rewards. For example, Assault players get sentry guns.

The game is of course compatible with Activision’s new Call of Duty Elite online network which lets players create clans, compete with each other and track their progress.

Black Ops may be a tough act to follow but the same was said of MW2. Make no mistake, MW3 is the biggest release of the year and a sure-fire record breaker.

MW3 console

To mark the biggest release of the year, Activision has teamed up with Microsoft to produce a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360 bundle.

The console has a special ‘battle-worn’ theme and even emits the sound of one of the game’s weapons. The SKU will be exclusive to GAME and Gamestation. It comes with a copy of the game and two controllers.

The Hardened Edition

This collectible steelbook bundle comes with an art disc, an annual Call of Duty Elite premium membership subscription, a field journal and a Juggernaut Xbox Live avatar outfit.

Second sight

A selection of Modern Warfare 3 branded Gunnar glasses will arrive on release day that claim to reduce eye strain. Turtle Beach is also providing fans with a series of MW3 headsets.
