Campbell takes USA role to boost MCV and Develop

Longtime Edge Online frontman Colin Campbell has joined Intent Media as head of US content and business development.

The highly rated publisher and journalist has over 20 years’ experience within the industry. He ran US trade title Games Business and online pioneer Fastest Games News throughout the 1990s, having played a key role at MCV predecessor CTW in the late 1980s.

Campbell continues with Edge until mid-April, but is then moving to a new office in the US for his Intent role.

"This is a significant hire for us. Colin is incredibly well connected and respected when it comes to the US games industry," said Intent Media boss Stuart Dinsey.

Campbell will be supporting MCV and Develop as they continue their remarkable progress online. He will also be in charge of new initiatives and support other parts of Intent’s games portfolio – such as CasualGaming.Biz and Mobile Entertainment.

"When managerial responsibility of Edge Online was moved from Future’s US office to its UK office, I felt that it was the right time for me to move on," said Campbell.

"Intent immediately made me an offer to head up their US content and brand development. I am happy to work with Stuart and his incredibly smart team.

"These guys are B2B leaders – they understand the fundamentals of great online reader experience and are open to the amazing opportunities presented by the social media revolution."
