Street Fighter V won’t offer pay-to-win DLC, despite claims from one Capcom exec that it will.
EventHubs reported that Capcom president and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto told an E3 audience that the game’s developer is trying to steer away from making the next game such that skilled players will win, but unskilled players will lose almost instantaneously” by allowing users to power up their characters via paid-for DLC.
Players will also apparently be able to watch matches between high-level players for a bit of schooling.
However, Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono later took to Twitter to refute the reports.
The SFV news today about a pay to win model is not accurate and isn’t something we’re planning for,” he said. Sorry for the confusion! We’re still in early planning stages and will
share more at a later date.”
