Competitive Xbox One digital pricing ‘on the agenda’

Microsoft has suggested that the price of digital Xbox One games will become more competitive with the High Street at some point in the future.

Whereas Sony has used a combination of Steam-like sales and free games on PlayStation Plus to make its consoles viable digital platforms, Xbox Live’s digital games pricing still often compares poorly with the High Street.

However, in a Reddit thread reacting angrily to the news that digital pre-orders for Titanfall would not enjoy the same $10 discount being offered to those who pre-order the physical game in the US, Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hyrb replied:

Deals like the $10 off one are driven by retailers. We are way aware of this and many of the concerns of the community – we have some great stuff planned for Xbox One this year (and beyond.) As soon as we can share some of the goodness… we will.”

When then asked specifically about competitive digital pricing, he added that the issue is indeed on the agenda”.
