Crackdown 2 gets UK date

Microsoft has – via the medium of Twitter – announced that Xbox 360 exclusive superhero sandbox title Crackdown 2 will be released in the UK and Europe on July 9th.

The game is being developed by new startup Ruffian Games, a studio formed by the founders of Realtime Worlds – the outfit responsible for the first Crackdown game.

The series first arrived in February 2007 and was somewhat of a surprise hit. Having endured a long and problematic development cycle, expectations were lowered further when Microsoft chose to restrict Halo 3 beta access to those who bought Realtime Worlds’ game.

However, it went on to gain rave reviews and demand for a sequel has been relentless since. Crackdown 2 could yet prove to be one of 2010’s best sellers, and is certainly a worthy addition to Xbox 360’s exclusive roster.
