Dark Souls and Bloodborne creator Miyazaki planning ‘several new projects’, hints at ‘sci-fi Souls’

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the man behind Demon’s and Dark Souls, as well as Bloodborne, already has plans for the follow-up to Dark Souls 3.

Speaking to GameSpot, Miyazaki said that the third entry in From Software’s gothic RPG franchise, set for release early next year, would be a ‘turning point’ for the series, which has now sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide.

"Dark Souls is my life’s work," he said. "Everything I came up with for Dark Souls 3 is based on my personal preferences.

However, Dark Souls 3 is also actually the turning point for the franchise."

Miyazaki continued that he was already working on ‘several new projects’, and when questioned about the possibility of expanding the Souls experience to a game type beyond fantasy, added that he would ‘definitely like to bring the Miyazaki Touch’ to the sci-fi or mech genre.

"I do want to work on something new," he said.

"I’m pleased to hear people are interested in seeing that."
