Deus Ex "is a Top 10 game of the year"

With so little movement in the UK charts right now, the market is crying out for a fresh hit – and Square Enix is getting ready to deliver just that.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be released in the UK on August 26th, and the publisher believes that it has one of the year’s major on its hands.

Having now seen all UK retail with DE: HR the resounding feedback is that Deus Ex is a Top 10 game of the year with many retailers listing it alongside some of the big selling Q4 annual updates and returning franchises, which is exactly where we want to be,” UK marketing manager Paul Benjamin told MCV.

The quality of the game is unquestionable and the marketing support is huge as I have previously mentioned. I think we are on track for something special and re-establishing this popular franchise.”

While the general review embargo doesn’t lift until around the time of the US release early next week, those outlets who have been given review access have had nothing but praise for the ambitious sequel.

It does feel like all the stars are aligning for Deus Ex, not only are Square Enix backing this game and retail fully supporting it – the reviews we have had in this week are nothing short of sensational,” Benjamin added.

PC gamer kicked off with 94 per cent and an Editor’s Choice award saying it’s ‘endlessly entertaining’ and OXM followed that with a rare 10/10 and simply said ‘Buy This Game’.

Finally, GameMaster have called it ‘a once-in-a-generation kind of game’ giving it a Gold Award and 94per cent. All indications are that these will be followed by other great scores but we’ll just have to wait and see.”
