Develop celebrates its 10th birthday

Develop, Europe’s leading resource for games developers, has hit its tenth birthday.

MCV’s sister title is ten years old today, with the December/January issue now with subscribers – a decade after the first issue, cover date January 2001, arrived for the increasingly sophisticated development sector.

You can read the anniversary issue, compete with a retrospective of a decade of Develop, by clicking here to read it in your browser or byclicking here to download a PDF.

In print, Develop is published 11 times every year, and also publishes the annual Develop 100, which ranks the top 100 studios in the world based on the revenues generated by their games.

The magazine is available via paper subscription globally – and is also published digitally for free online.

Online, Develop’s site at develop-online.net has fast grown into a highy-regarded resource of developer news and insight, attracting over 128k unique viewers in October.

A dedicated app for the site launched last month.

Develop is also responsible for must-attend games industry events, including the Develop Industry Excellence Awards (launched in 2003), and the more recent Develop Pub Quiz and Develop Football Challenge for 5-a-side teams.

"Develop has gone from strength to strength in its ten years on the market, and sits at the heart of games development – it’s focused look at just the way games are made gives it an edge over the competition," said editor-in-chief Michael French.

"And it’s successful and continued growth into a multi-faceted brand that touches print, online, and events shows its many touch points with games developers of the world."
