Double Fine Adventure exclusive to Ouya at launch

Ouya will be the only console to offer Tim Schafer’s record-breaking Kickstarter title, Double Fine Adventure.

The exclusive deal was announced by Ouya’s CEO and founder Julie Uhrman at this year’s DICE Summit, according to Kotaku.

It is part of a partnership with famed developer Schafer, a partnership that will also see Double Fine’s The Cave and upcoming title Reds released on Ouya.

Double Fine Adventure is notable for being funded by the first major Kickstarter campaign for a game, which raised over $3m. Ouya is also the result of a Kickstarter campaign, which raised a whopping $8m.

Uhrman also announced a similar partnership with Verse, the studio led by Words With Friends creator Paul Bettner. The developer is working on two unannounced titles for Ouya.

"Ouya and Verse are nothing less than the return of console gamine," said Bettner. "The last big wave was mobile… Words With Friends is the most-played game across all mobile platforms, and the With Friends franchise dominates five of the Top 25 spots of all mobile games played today.

"And yet I believe we’re about to see another disruption even bigger than this last. Gamers want the App Store in their living room. Ouya will be the first to deliver it, and it’s going to change everything. Again."

Earlier this week, Ouya announced its console would be released in the US in June.
