Edelman wins Xbox PR contract

The work will begin on the account in January, and represents another major contract for PR powerhouse Edelman, whose clients already include giant firms like Wal-Mart and UPS. It won the account up against three competing agencies, and takes over from Manning Selvage and Lee.

MCV revealed last week that Microsoft was on the hunt for a new PR agency, with Sony also open to offers having parted company with Jackie Cooper PR, which is owned by Edelman.

“We saw some terrific work and some strong strategies and great ideas from all four competing agencies,” said European head of PR for Xbox 360 Paul Fox. “The Edelman submission had the edge given its depth of strategic insight and understanding of our brand and our needs - coupled with some outstanding creative work. In addition, the Edelman team line-up is especially strong and we are able to benefit further from Edelman’s position as our global partner and agency of record.”

President and CEO of Edelman Europe David Brain added: “We are absolutely delighted to add Europe and the Middle East to our work for Xbox in the US, Asia and the Emerging Markets of Europe. This is an important win for us and we will are all hugely excited and energised by the challenge ahead.”
