EE reveals 4G pricing plans in the UK; Prices start at £36

The cost of being amongst the first UK consumers to get 4G coverage on their mobile phones has been revealed by Everything Everywhere.

4G will go live on EE’s network on October 30th and will be available to all T-Mobile and Orange customers with a 4G-ready handset, which includes the recently released iPhone 5.

The entry-level contract will set customers back 36 per month over two years. It offers unlimited calls and texts but a quite severe data cap – 500MB a month, which could in theory be streamed over the new high-speed network in under two minutes. The high-end 8GB contract costs 56 per month.

A number of handsets are available at a range of prices depending on the contract that customers sign up to, the most expensive of which sees the iPhone 5 available for just 19.99. The Huawei Ascend P1 can be had for free on all contracts worth 41 per month or more.

Existing iPhone 5 owners will have to wait until November 9th to get their hands on a sim-only 12 month price plan starting at 21 per month.

Those who purchased a non-4G version of handsets such as the One X or Galaxy S III will be able to upgrade to the 4G-ready variant for 100.

Additional services are available to those who sing up to the 41 and above contracts, including the chance to choose an extra media service such as free streaming music services, free Gameloft games or live mobile TV which offers pause and resume” functionality for those wishing to share their viewing between their mobile and computer.

Also on offer is a film download service with all customers offered the chance to download one movie per month without it impacting on their data allowance.
