Egmont to launch Download magazine, focus on digital brands ‘from toys-to-life to YouTubers’

Children’s publisher Egmont is to combine the digital with the old-fashioned in a new magazine.

Download is the latest in the ‘AllAbout’ series, and will report on the biggest digital products and companies in the games industry for kids aged between six and 12.

This apparently includes everything from toys-to-life, apps and games to YouTubers and live streaming, with some of the brands mentioned as being hot topics for the publication including Mario, Stampy Cat, Terraria and FIFA.

The first issue goes on sale tomorrow (August 19th), costing 3.99, and will include 40 LEGO game secrets, an interview with YouTuber TheDiamondMinecart, a run-down of the funniest Netflix shows and guides for Mario Kart 8 and LEGO Jurassic World.

Download isn’t the first Egmont publication to cover the ever-growing digital sector. The firm launched YouTube-focused magazine Oh My Vlog! earlier this year, to a passionate reaction across social media.

Download reflects what our consumer insight shows: digital is transforming children’s publishing but not in the way people expect, because children are still hungry and passionate for print,” said Cally Poplak, MD of Egmont Publishing UK.

Following the media storm whipped up by Oh My Vlog!, what will Twitter make of Download, the next Egmont magazine to showcase our expertise when it comes to curating digital content that reflects the interests and passions for today’s readers?”
