Ex-Witcher 3 developers open new UK studio Wickerman Games

Two developers who count EA, Starbreeze Studios, Codemasters, The Chinese Room and CD Projekt Red among their collective experience have formed a brand new outlet.

Wickerman Games is a UK-based firm helmed by Chris Hardwick and Dan Cordell, who met at The Witcher 3 studio CD Projekt Red. (Well spotted,VG247.)

Although the studio technically came to life back in February, Hardwick and Cordell formally revealed it this month.

Alongside the announcement Wickerman Games pledged its dedication to transparent development, revealing assets, prototypes and in-progress videos as each title is shaped.

In line with CD Projekt Red, the studio also said that its content will be DRM-free, with ‘substantial’ post-release support.

The ultimate goal, it added, is to make games we want to play that nobody seems to be making”.

Though a debut title is yet to be detailed, the developers’ core influences are listed as pen-and-paper role-playing games such as Traveller, World of Darkness, Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun and Dungeons & Dragons.
