Exeter Uni cricket team wins Ashes Cricket 2013 spot - thanks to actor Hugh Grant

British Actor Hugh Grant has helped the Exeter University Cricket Club to a starring role in 505 Games’ upcoming Ashes Cricket 2013.

Earlier this month the publisher launched a competition to allow one amateur team to be digitally replicated in the game.

In total 290 clubs were nominated and 16,245 votes cast.

Grant took to Twitter to drum up support for Exeter and his message was subsequently retweeted by the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Shane Warne and Elizabeth Hurley.

Rivals Oxford Brookes also had a spot of celebrity help – although having Piers Morgan on board is possibly more of a hindrance.

“Winning this competition is the stuff of dreams for any amateur cricketer,” 505’s general manager for UK & export Ralph Pitt-Stanley stated.

“It is fantastic we were able to excite so many people with this competition and really kick start the anticipation that comes with an Investec Ashes Series 2013 summer.”
