UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph this weekend published its extensive
list, and Microsoft and Lionhead’s Fable II was the paper’s pick of the bunch for standout titles over the last 12 months.
The hardcore centric list leads with two of the year’s biggest RPGs – with Bethesda’s Fallout 3 trailing Fable II by just one place.
Also troubling the Top Ten were the likes of Microsoft’s Gears of War 2, Rockstar’s Gradn Theft Auto IV, Rising Star’s No More Heroes and EA’s Left 4 Dead.
In fact, it was a good haul for EA, with the publisher leading its competitors with an impressive nine entries in the listing, which included praise for the likes Rock Band 2, Left 4 Dead, Dead Space, FIFA 09 and Mirror’s Edge.
The list was also good reading for Sony, which despite often being accused of having a weak year in terms of first party software bettered both its platform holding competitors with seven entries in The Telegraph’s list – both Microsoft and Nintendo managed just four.
